Is it right for me?

Who is ONDA for?

ONDA is ideal for people who are close to their desired weight but still have stubborn localised fat in specific areas of the body. It is designed for pockets of fat that can be difficult to shift with diet and exercise alone, particularly when they affect the shape and contour of the abdomen, flanks, thighs, bra area or other targeted areas.

It can also be a good option when that stubborn fat sits alongside cellulite or reduced skin firmness, but the main strength of ONDA is its ability to target localised fat in a precise, non-invasive way.

Common concerns

ONDA may be right for you if you have:

  • Stubborn abdominal fat

Localised fat on the stomach that remains despite weight loss or exercise.

  • Pockets of fat on the waist or flanks

Areas that affect body contour and feel resistant to lifestyle changes.

  • Thigh or bra-area fat

Small, specific deposits of fat that are difficult to shift.

  • Fat with some cellulite

Where localised fat is the main concern, but dimpling is also present.

  • Fat with mild skin laxity

Where the area needs contouring, with an added benefit of some tightening support.

The science

How does ONDA work?

ONDA uses 2.45 GHz Coolwaves® technology to deliver controlled microwave energy beneath the surface of the skin.

At this frequency, the energy is designed to pass through the superficial layers of the skin and concentrate more deeply within the subcutaneous fat layer. DEKA states that around 80% of the delivered Coolwaves® energy targets the fat cells, while the remaining energy is absorbed more superficially. Integrated cooling helps protect and keep the skin surface comfortable during treatment.

Before your appointment

Your ONDA treatment

Everything you need to know before your appointment.

  • Duration

From 30 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.

  • Recommended frequency

For localised fat, treatments are generally spaced around 4 weeks apart.

  • Typical course

A course of around 4 treatments is commonly recommended, ideally once a month.

  • Treatment area

One ONDA treatment area is approximately 15 × 15 cm — roughly the size of two hands placed together.

  • What does it feel like?

You may feel warmth, cooling and pressure as the handpiece moves across the skin. Integrated cooling helps keep the skin’s surface comfortable, although some people experience mild discomfort.

  • Downtime

Most people can return to their usual daily activities after treatment. Temporary redness, swelling or tenderness may occur, and we’ll explain the aftercare before you leave.

FAQs

Contraindications

ONDA is not suitable if you have:

  • A pacemaker, heart implant or deep brain stimulation implant
  • Significant heart or vascular disease
  • Active phlebitis, thrombophlebitis or thrombosis
  • Active cancer or cancer within the last 5 years
  • Significant kidney or liver dysfunction
  • A blood-clotting disorder
  • A transplanted organ
  • Decompensated/uncontrolled diabetes
  • An active infectious disease
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding

Some conditions require further assessment

Please tell us before booking if you have a history of cancer, thrombosis, diabetes, autoimmune disease, varicose veins, abnormal wound healing/keloids, blood-pressure problems, or if you take anticoagulant medication, steroids, retinoids or other relevant medication. DEKA also lists a BMI over 30 as a relative contraindication because ONDA is intended for localised adiposity rather than obesity.

We cannot treat directly over:

Tattoos or permanent make-up, open wounds or active inflammation, varicose veins, hernias, fractures, prominent bone, areas with very little subcutaneous fat, or certain implants such as metal plates, screws or prostheses within the treatment area.

How to prepare for the treatment

To help ONDA work effectively, DEKA recommends a few simple steps before your appointment:

  • Keep well hydrated — aim for around 2 litres of water the day before your treatment, and continue drinking well the following day.
  • Avoid moisturising or emollient creams on the treatment area for one week beforehand. Because water absorbs microwave energy, DEKA advises keeping the area free from hydrating products before treatment.
  • Come with clean skin — no body lotion, oils, deodorant, make-up or ointments on the area being treated.
  • Shave dense hair on the treatment area if needed, as this helps the handpiece sit properly against the skin.
  • Tell us about any changes to your health or medication before your appointment so we can make sure the treatment is still suitable.
Post treatment advice

There is very little downtime after ONDA, but a few simple steps can help support the treatment:

  • Keep well hydrated after your session.
  • Lymphatic drainage is recommended after ONDA to support fluid and waste clearance. (Recommended immediately after treatment)
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 48 hours on the treated area.
  • If the skin is slightly pink or red, avoid very hot showers or baths until the redness has settled.
  • Moderate exercise and a healthy diet are encouraged after treatment.
  • For fat-focused treatments, the same area should generally not be treated again for around 4 weeks, giving the body time to process the cellular material released after treatment.
What can ONDA be combined with?

ONDA targets stubborn localised fat. Depending on your goals, we may recommend complementary treatments to address muscle tone, cellulite, skin firmness or fluid retention.

ONDA + Pressotherapy

Fat reduction + lymphatic drainage

Pressotherapy supports lymphatic drainage and can help with fluid retention alongside your ONDA course.

ONDA + EMS Body Sculpt

Fat reduction + muscle definition

ONDA targets the fat layer, while EMS Body Sculpt works on muscle tone and strength to support a more defined appearance.

ONDA + STORZ

Fat reduction + smoother-looking cellulite

An option when stubborn fat sits alongside dimpling or uneven skin texture. STORZ acoustic wave therapy targets the appearance of cellulite.

ONDA + NuEra

Fat reduction + skin firmness

For areas where localised fat and loose skin occur together. NuEra uses controlled radiofrequency heating to support skin tightening.

ONDA + RollShape & VibraShape

Fat reduction + massage and movement

RollShape provides guided roller massage, while VibraShape adds vibration-based exercise—complementary options alongside your ONDA course.

ONDA + InfraShape

Fat reduction + exercise

InfraShape combines cycling with infrared warmth and vacuum, adding an exercise component to your body-contouring plan.

ONDA + Full-Body Red Light

Fat reduction + skin quality support

Red and near-infrared light can support collagen production and skin quality, complementing ONDA’s focus on localised fat.

When will I see the results?

Some people notice an initial change after their first ONDA treatment, but results develop gradually as the body processes the treated fat.

For localised fat, DEKA advises that around 2–4 sessions are usually needed for a more noticeable result, depending on the starting point and individual response. Cellulite and skin-tightening changes may sometimes become visible a little sooner.

What happens to the fat after an ONDA treatment?

ONDA’s Coolwaves® place the fat cells under controlled thermal stress. Some fat cells release part of their stored fat and become smaller, while others become damaged enough for their membrane to rupture. This causes fat-cell breakdown and death (lysis). The released fat and damaged cell material are then gradually cleared by the body, with immune cells called macrophages helping with the clean-up process.

Why should you add Pressotherapy / lymphatic drainage straight after your ONDA treatment?

ONDA uses Coolwaves® to heat targeted tissue. During treatment, fluids in the area may shift. The lymphatic system helps carry excess fluid from the tissues back into circulation, so the ONDA international advisory board recommends lymphatic drainage afterwards to support microcirculation and fluid movement.
